Papers of a study group originating in a reading project in late 1972 / early 1973 which subsequently by 1975 expanded into a study group for which a Basic Study Programme was drawn up. The Basic Study Programme covered 6 topics:
Some of the documents are long: document 1, History of the communist movement, is around 12,000 words. The culture section incudes work on Lu Hsun. The readings specified include works of George Thomson, and ancient history and archaeology are discussed in relation to the British Museum. Also in the file is the document “The role of the British Museum and British Library in British Society”, a document of about 3000 words which was duplicated and distributed within the BM and BL, and also more widely in the organisation Librarians for Social Change. |
