HPR is the public internet portal for access to the substantial body of original materials on political, social, cultural and community campaigning in Britain in the quarter century 1975 to 2000 accumulated by the publishing firm Mosquito Press and its successor organisation in that period.

Additional materiial is added when it directly complements and reinforces the main themes in the Archive's Foundation Collections.

Online access to the archive includes a ‘Quick View’ of selected documents; this gives an initial indication of the nature of the material in the archive, while access to the entire archive will be provided in step with the digitising and cataloguing processes, with full search facilities and analytical archive details.

Cataloguing of the Archive will include cross-referencing its records with hard-copy and online availability in the British Library, LSE’s British Library of Political and Economic Science, British Online Archives and other relevant national collections and information bases to ensure that any existing gaps in internet availability of rare or unique items are filled, to the benefit of the library and information world as a whole.

The organisation will foster, undertake, commission and/or support research into any aspect of its archive, and make the results of such research available publicly on its website. It may also publish such research in printed form.

The organisation will conduct all other such activities as may further the public benefit of this work, including holding seminars, conferences, public lectures, cultural events and exhibitions, issuing occasional literature, coordinating with, and participating in, the activities of other relevant organisations, etc.

The organisation will source funds to further its aims, inviting and receiving financial donations, grants, donations and support in kind from individuals and from public and private organisations, including research grants from public or government agencies.
